Backlinks | How To: Check Your Backlinks | Not Respond To An Unsubscribe

How to Check Your Backlinks

Rob Chant at Search Engine Watch takes on this subject in this excellent post . Some tips he offers (but read the entire post to get full advantage): First, don't use Google's search operator to check links "it's notoriously inaccurate," he says. Instead, go to Google Webmaster Tools which "supplies you with a wealth of information about what Google knows about your site, as well as how it performs in the search results and +1 metrics."

Then, find the "Links to your site" page. From there, find the number of links to your site and the number of domains linking to your site.

Chant also reviews independent link tools and discusses how to evaluate the various numbers probably gathered about the site for this exercise.

How Not to Respond to an Unsubscribe

Clickmail Marketing gives some good tips on how to manage an unsubscribe. One rather unique suggestion: no groveling . "We apologize if our email updates inconvenienced you in any way. If your needs change in the future, we hope that you will consider subscribing to receive information updates from us again" - is an example of what you don't want to write.
