Traffic To Your Website | NEWS: MMDA Navigator Website Steers You Away From Traffic

Commuting to work on time is a constant battle our kababayans face on a daily basis. Given the density of our traffic situation, braving the congested Metro Manila thoroughways is as tricky as hell and getting on time is nearly impossible. Sometimes, even waking up earlier than usual isn't enough assurance.

Considering how unpredictable the roads are here, it's hard to tell if your regular path is already congested or not. Sudden rains can turn roads into waterworlds. Flood build up are so quick and unpredictable, it's really hard to assume that any street within the metro is flood-proof.

This is the primary reason why the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) launched an internet-based Metro Manila traffic navigator. This web-based tool is an easy to use, 24/7 traffic monitoring system that covers the main areas of the city and gives you feedback in real-time.

How does it work? The MMDA will base their information according to their planted closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) based on various locations and reports from the officers in the field especially to those areas that don’t have CCTVs. Users can access the information through the official website of the MMDA mmda.gov.ph and TV5's interaksyon.com .

The navigator can be viewed either as a system, line or Google Map. Legends are on the side of the page and routes can be clicked on for further details. This project is the brainchild of the MMDA and TV5 network and, as of the moment, a 7-man team is heading the project. The team leader will be on-call 24/7 and the group will keep the system

The MMDA is planning to have more road coverage as the project pushes forward. "We're adding Ortigas Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, and Marcos Highway soon, and possibly the city streets, in coordination with the local government units, in the near future," MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino reveals in an interview.
