How To Get Traffic | Sound Off! Saturday, Sept. 17

Why do the people who live on Russell Street feel they can blow their leaves and grass clippings into the road to clog our drains up?

Mt. Pleasant

Driving home from Lansing last night, that hard-at-work Obama money caused me to take a detour, and then another detour inside that detour, causing me to drive 14 miles out of my way at $3.68 a gallon. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper.

Ithaca

(That darn Obama should know better than to fix our roads. But $3.68, that’s a bargain. -Ed.)

If the Alma City Commission chooses to hire either a traffic or transportation engineer, as our city manager suggests, to help with traffic on Pine Avenue, I’d suggest they hire the one who designed the new Walmart’s traffic patterns. From southwest to northwest. Do we need to spend $10,000 instead of using our common sense? A stoplight for Walmart. Why not one for our children?

The Postal Service is trying to close the Rosebush Post Office, starting out by taking all the routes to Mt. Pleasant. I’d like to have everyone start by writing their congressmen.

Rosebush

Where’s Mark Ranzenberger? Where’s Eric Baerren? According to fact-finding testimony, CMU runs an annual surplus between $20 and $40 million. The difference in the faculty and administration positions amounts to $10 million over three years. What can’t CMU afford?

Mt. Pleasant

CMU has $228 million in unrestricted funds, in fourth place among state universities - twice as month as fifth place, and three times as much as Western, yet they can’t pay their faculty a fair wage. How long are they going to go on hoarding taxpayer money?

I was coming out of Walgreens on North Mission when I fell in the parking lot, and I’d like to thank the gentleman who helped me get up and back to my car.

I wish law enforcement would use the same zeal they have for marijuana to find Auggie.

Mt. Pleasant

I expect the Morning Sun to print the news. When an elected official is part of a recall, I expect to know. Are their recall petitions against Bill Schuette?

Mt. Pleasant

How would law enforcement know the Weidman marijuana dispensary owner didn’t have locked facilities? They must be snooping around at night. That’s wrong.

Mt. Pleasant

The country is broke, and the Department of Justice gives out $118.4 million to Indian tribes, including $860,000 to our local Tribe, one of the richest in the nation, for a tribal justice system that operates in secrecy. How do these things happen? Common sense needs to be the call for the next election season.

Mt. Pleasant

At one time they raised the speed limit on Mission so traffic will move faster, then they narrow the road so traffic will move slower. What’s going on?

Mt. Pleasant

(Michigan State Police set the speed limit and the Department of Transportation decides on lane width. We agree it’s nuts. -Ed.)
